The Range may only be used if a RSO is present. The Range will normally be closed by the RSO during severe inclement weather. If the temperature is 32oF or below, the range may or may not be open.
Permitted Firearms
Any legally owned and legal to own firearm in safe operating condition is permitted for use on the Range. This necessarily means that some shooters will require more
proficiency and experience than others. This is particularly true with fully automatic weapons fire. Fully automatic firearms will be controlled at all times. No one under the age of fifteen is allowed to operate fully automatic firearms. In other regards any pistol, rim fire rifle, center fire rifles, muzzle loading pistols and rifles or shotguns may be used.

Ammunition Not Permitted

Permitted Targets
The shooter will normally supply his own targets, but may use a club provided target stand and backer. Target stand use is free. To decrease the likelihood of ricochets, shooters may not use metal targets or target frames, except as permitted below. Target stands and backers are to be made from wood, PVC and/or cardboard or some other type of materials that will not cause ricochets. The front of the bullet trap at 170yds has been marked with table numbers. Use these table number markings to position targets on the range. This will prevent cross range shooting and the shooting of someone else’s target stand. To ensure bullet capture in a backstop, the maximum height of any target is 5 feet to the top edge. Target stands of 6 feet in height can be used for 7 yards off hand pistol shooting. However, they will not be provided. Targets should be set in a manner that ensures no bullet strikes the ground less than 25 yards from the firing line.

Many target types are permitted, including:

For safety considerations, a number of targets are not permitted. These include:

If in doubt, the RSO makes the final determination.

When a shooter is done for the day, it is his responsibility to retrieve the target stand from down range, remove and properly dispose of the target, and return the target stand to the shed.

Range Users, Who Can Shoot
Any member of the Unaka Rod and Gun Club whose membership is paid in full may freely use the Range within the limits of this document. Members should bring the membership identification card to the Range and be prepared to present it to the RSO as requested. If the person cannot be recognized by another present verified member as a current member, that person will be asked to leave the premises.

Members may bring as many as two non-member guests to shoot or observe on the Range. This may include any child, as long as they are under direct and immediate control, or any family member of a member in good standing. Members may not shoot while their guest is shooting. This is intended to allow the member’s full attention to the safe conduct of their guests. This, however, may be waived by the RSO.

Anyone participating in any activity on the Range shall not have taken prescription drugs that impair judgment or physical abilities, or used recreational drugs or alcohol prior to arrival at Range.

By shooting or observing at the Range, all persons agree to follow all Range Rules posted on the Range and obey all verbal instructions of the Range Safety Officer. These include:
