2020
The BPCR group has concluded one of our most successful year of competition . Scores were consistently high and we had the most shooters on a routine basis.
Our larger numbers were primarily attributable to shooters from French Broad Muzzleloaders and Cherokee Gun Club joining us. Good shooters, even better
men, and strong competitors. Always welcome.
We gained some new shooters whose prior experience enabled them to be competitive quickly in our matches.
Our competition again consisted of a bulls eye event of 10 shots from the bench at 200 yard target. Some also shot offhand at
a steel chicken -5 shots at 200 yards. Big grins when that chicken was occassionally "rung".
Others would shoot at a 4" steel disc from the bench at 200 yards. A great deal of satisfaction and big whoops when that disc was spun.
Jonathan Price was overall champion and high iron sights shooter. His consistency at bulls eye and 4" disc were too much to overcome. Congratulations ,Jonathan!
Randy Franklin captured second place overall and was high scope shooter. .
There was very little difference in overall scope versus iron sights scoring. Good shooters keep It close.
Some of us have been "forced" to use optics to try for more consistency. It is not an easy transition.
Our match competition only recognized two divisions-scopes vs iron sights, so we will send $100 each in Jonathan and Randy's names to St Judes Children's Hospital.
Notes:
The consistent high scores of both Jonathan and Randy made it very difficult to gain any ground on them.
Randy had a couple of 100's. His lowest score was a 97. Jonathan only had one score below 96 (94).
Bob Ray finally got his scope figured out and began to turn in some high scores
I don't think Matt Branham brought the same gun twice all season. Enjoyed learning about some of those old boomers.
Competition was serious but not intense. I had a good time and think everyone else did too.
Just wait till next year!
