THE RIFLE/PISTOL RANGE WILL BE CLOSED ON
SATURDAY DECEMBER 9th DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS
We have had a committee working on rules for our club skeet and trap leagues. After much effort and deliberation, they have produced an updated rule book that will be adhered to during these events. The document can be downloaded and viewed by clicking the button below.
THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE CLUB PROPERTY IS 15 MILES PER HOUR. PLEASE ADHERE TO THIS AT ALL TIMES AND DRIVE SAFELY.
ALWAYS BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR WILDLIFE CROSSING THE ROADWAYS.
WINTER WEATHER REMINDER:
As usual, we will try to keep any winter-weather related range closings posted here. If Washington county schools are closed, the range will be closed. Please keep in mind that days where the temperature will remain around or below freezing, the range safety officers may not open the range. If there is snow on the ground, do not attempt to enter the gun club. Throughout the winter and during chances of snow, please check here to see if there is a closing notification before heading to the club.
We are experiencing a shortage of volunteer range safety officers (RSO) for the rifle/pistol range.
The rifle/pistol range is only open for use when a RSO is on duty to supervise the safe use of the facility.
For us to maintain our regular daily (Monday-Sunday) operating schedule, we must have more volunteers to support us with our range safety officer program. If we do not have trained volunteers to serve as RSO's,
we will have to adopt an abbreviated operating schedule for our rifle/pistol range.
This will be dictated by the number of available support volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering for our RSO program, please call
Joshua Hyatt at (423) 943-3827 for more information.
ATTENTION, TENNESSEE HANDGUN CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS
Early this year Tennessee's Department of Safety and Homeland Security (DOS) updated the curriculum for the Tennessee Handgun Safety Course, which is required for a handgun carry permit. The sections concerning safety, handgun nomenclature and marksmanship have not changed much, but a lot was added to the legal section. Several permit holders have audited the class over the past few months and have commented that the new legal information was very useful and they learned things they were not aware of.
If anyone who has completed the handgun safety class in 2016 or earlier would like, you are invited to sit in on the legal portion of our upcoming classes. This is NOT required to renew your permit and there will be no fee, but you may find it informative. If you wish to avail yourself of this opportunity, please arrive at the clubhouse by 8:30 a.m. on one of our regularly scheduled class days (the second Saturday of each month, except January and February). Current students will be seated in the front of the class, so please quietly take available seats behind them. The legal section should last approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, but you are free to leave at any time you wish.
Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Classes Are Held On The Second Saturday Of Each Month (March-December) At Our Clubhouse.
No classes will be held in January or February.
